2... really?! You're going to be TWO?!

Dear Will,

You're going to be 2 in precisely 37 hours and 45 minutes (I started writing this at 10:12 p.m. 9/6/10)... HOW did that happen?! I remember the day (the second actually) you were born like it happened this morning. I will never forget the way I felt at 11:57 a.m. 9/8/08! WOAH! The tears were immediate for both myself and your proud Daddy. How could so much love come with someone so tiny? I don't know, but boy were we love struck by you! I remember getting to hold you for the first time. You were wide awake and just staring into my eyes almost like you were saying, "so YOU'RE my Mommy." I sure am, sweet boy - and I'm so blessed to be able to say that!

You are so much fun! You amaze us everyday with the things you do and say. What a sweet boy you are (even if you do have a bit of a two-year-old temper :)). You're funny and smart and such a handsome little boy. We're so proud of you, Will!

Just yesterday you decided it was time to climb out of your crib. Daddy and I found you straddling the side of it hanging on for dear life when we went to get you after your nap. We went and got your great-grandfather's bed from GG's house that afternoon and tonight is your first night in your big boy bed. It took us an hour and 20 minutes to get you to go to sleep - and we're praying you stay put all night :). One night at a time - I know (hope?) you'll be a pro before we know it!

Some of my favorite things you say at two: "Excuse us, mommy" (when you need to get by me); "Dah!" (this is your word for yes - perhaps you're trying to say "yeah!"?); "brown bear brown bear" (you LOVE him in the book, you love him in the zoo, and you love your little plastic one you put in your barn); "there it is!" (this sounds more like "deer id is!"); "go away bees"; go away skeetoes" (mosquitos); "bye bye big trucks" (when we drive onto the exit ramp off of the interstate)... and much more!

I love how you ASK to go tee tee in the potty. It doesn't happen all the time, but probably once a day now. Sometimes you're very specific and you have to tee tee in Mommy's potty. You get two m&ms for each successful attempt, and you request a green one and a blue one.

You like to count with us and your favorite numbers to say are 2, 3, 5, 8, and 10. If you're counting by yourself you say "2, 3, 2, 3!" Those MUST be the most important numbers :).

You LOVE for us to sing with you! Your favorite songs are the itsy bitsy spider (with your precious hand motions), the alphabet, "the dupee song" (a.k.a. how much is that doggy in the window), and the happy birthday song.

You started 2 yr old preschool this year and you LOVE Ms. Bonnie and her class. You strut into class like you're the big man on campus. Technically your birthday comes after the cut off date of 9/1, so you'll be going to the 2 yr old class again next year when you're really supposed to. We wanted you to be a part of a class this year so the school said you could go ahead and come. We're so glad they did! You just love it!

We can't wait to see what this year will bring for you (and us!), Will! You're going to be a wonderful big brother to your baby sister! Happy 2nd Birthday, sweet boy! You bring such joy, happiness, and love to our lives!
